How to Keep Yourself Motivated to Lose Weight?

Henry WebbMost of the time, the reason that many people are overweight is because their mind gets in the way and prevent them from losing weight.
Have you ever wanted to wake up in the morning for a run but the little voice inside you is giving all the reasons that you should continue to lie on your bed? Bad weather, you can always run another day, not feeling well - are these excuses familiar?
Often, we start off with a diet and exercise plan and get so motivated to lose weight. However, after 1 week, the motivation starts to fade away and we are back to our same old routine of eating unhealthily and not exercising regularly. So how can you keep yourself motivated to lose weight? In this article, I will share with you some tips that can keep you motivated:
One way is to take a piece of paper and write down your goal. For example, your goal can be "I want to lose X lbs". After you have written down your goal, you should attach a pain statement to it. An example of a pain statement can be: "If I do not succeed in losing X lbs, I will be fat forever".
Then paste this piece of paper somewhere that you will see it everyday, such as on your desktop, phone, side of the mirror, etc. When you look at this piece of paper everyday, your brain will try to figure out a way to achieve the goal. The pain statement will make your brain associates the pain with what you have written down and it will force you to work harder to achieve your goal.
Another way is to look at pictures of athletes, especially someone that you really admire. When you look at the perfect body of the athletes, your brain will associate the pride of having such great body and will make you motivated to lose weight faster.
Personally, I use this trick a lot of time. Whenever I am not motivated to run, I will look at pictures of athletes running a marathon and the next thing I know; I am all pumped up and ready to run!
Motivation is an important factor that will determine whether you can successfully lose weight. Therefore, you need to train your mind and keep yourself motivated during the process. Focus on your goal and always think of the benefits of being slim. When tough time comes, persevere on and you will achieve your goal eventually.

The first exercise I would like to talk about is stair walking. You may have stairs at your home or apartment building, if not you can probably go down to your local school as I am sure they have stairs at their football stadium. Doing this exercise will help you drop lots of weight really fast. All you have to do is sprint up the steps and then walk down again. You must proceed to do this for 5 minutes without stopping. It is a hard exercise to do, so if you cannot do it for 5 minutes, then work up to it. Start out doing 2-3 minutes a day.
The last exercise I would like to talk about is jumping on a mini trampoline. This exercise will speed up your metabolism and burn that fat in a matter of 2-3 minutes at a time. You will need to probably do this at least 10 times daily. As with the walking, this exercise also needs to be done daily. It is only for 2-3 minutes at a time, so you could probably fit that in during TV commercials. The fact is that short workouts speeds up the metabolism better than long workouts.
That's it! Now that you know the 2 simple exercises to do to lose that fat, you can get started on it right away.

Put firmly in your mind that this year you WILL NOT FAIL. Write that down, if you have to, and be determined to see it through.
Whichever way you decide to do it, just DO IT, and most importantly COMMIT! That way, when the next year comes rolling around, you'll have this goal accomplished and already scratched off the list! Then, your body, mind and soul will be strong and able to focus on the NEXT challenge! The clock is already ticking.... You don't even have to wait for a particular day to roll around to begin. The best time to start is NOW. Get going, and good luck!

Lose Weight With These Healthy Eating Tips

Without a doubt the most popular goal is losing weight. Specifically we set a goal for a certain amount of weight to lose. Some people might say, "I just want to lose some weight", while others will say, "I need to lose a lot of weight!"
Whatever your weight loss ambitions are they won't go far without a plan. The goal of losing weight is the start and you should be proud of yourself that you set that goal in the first place.
However the actual work of achieving the goal to lose weight is what's to come and is the meat and potatoes (no pun intended) of your weight loss plan.
I don't care who you are, how much weight you lift, or what your genetic makeup is, if you do not eat a well balanced healthy nutrition plan, you will invariably fail in trying to achieve your weight loss goal.
In order for your body to function in a healthy manner and get turned into a fat burning machine, you need to give it the nutrients it needs. Instead a lot of times we find ourselves stuffing burgers and fries into our bodies but what we really need are good quality sources of proteins, carbohydrates and vegetables.
Well you are in luck. Weight loss is not as hard as you think as long as you know what you are doing. Your weight loss nutrition plan is a lot easier than you think and I am about to give it to you. Weight loss doesn't get any easier than that right?
From now on you are going to eat six times a day. That's right I said six! Each meal will be smaller in size than say 3 big meals, as you will see in a moment. You should consume one meal about every two and a half to three hours until you reach 6 meals for the day. By eating smaller meals, that are well balanced with the right foods that I am going to talk about in a moment, you turn up the fat burning metabolism in your body.
Your metabolism is the rate at which your body burns fat. The higher the metabolism the more fat you will burn. Just like the furnace in your house, if it is constantly running it will burn the oil, gas, propane or whatever you use to heat your home. Your metabolism works the same way. As long as your metabolism is running it needs fuel to burn and keep it going, by eating smaller meals more frequently your metabolism is constantly running.
Now that you know how many meals you need to eat and how often, you need to know what to eat. This is simple. Each meal should consist of equal portions of proteins, carbohydrates and green vegetables.
Instead of using scale to weight all of your foods, which I find too cumbersome, just make each portion size the same size as your clenched fist. This way you aren't dragging your scale all around town with you. Your hands, well they go with your wherever you go anyway!
Your protein sources should come from lean meats, fish, chicken breast, egg whites (with the occasional yolk) and protein supplements such as Whey protein. These are your best sources.
Your carbohydrates should consist of whole grain breads, potatoes, brown rice and fruits. Your green vegetables should be just that, green. Meaning they should be spinach, broccoli, asparagus and salads. It is ok to throw in non green veggies such as carrots and cauliflower, but your main veggie source should be green.
Throw in ten to twelve ounces of water with every meal and you are set! You now have all the tools you need to lose as much or as little weight as possible. The only thing left is for you to go out and do it.
Just remember as with any weight loss plan, you should consult your primary care physician prior to starting.

Don't let the "excuse" of busy-ness prevent you from staying on your exercise routine--even if it is a modified routine. Twenty minutes is better than nothing, and YOU KNOW you can spare 20 minutes for yourself. Schedule your exercise time in your calendar as you do everything else. Increase your intensity if you have to decrease your time, so you'll burn more calories in that time. Do it in the morning, so you increase your energy for the day and don't have to worry about it later (plus, you'll burn as much fat in 20 minutes in the AM as 60 minutes later in the day). And remember, things like dancing count as exercise, as long as you are moving your body and getting your heart rate up, so get on that floor at every opportunity!
4. Eat a healthy, balanced meal at home before you go to a holiday party.
This is especially helpful for late-night events or if you don't know what's going to be served. This strategy will keep you from eating a meal that may not be an optimal choice. If the party is at someone's house, I would suggest you bring at least one item you feel you can enjoy without guilt and that others would enjoy as well. My momma always told me, "Don't be an empty-handed guest." Hmm....Now I can see other benefits to that as well. If it's a buffet-style dinner, go through the line to see what's available first, then decide what you're going to take to make your balanced plate and go through the line putting the appropriate amount on your plate.
Remember--one starch only (pasta, bread, potatoes, corn, rice). Or skip the starch if you plan to have the dessert.
5. Limit alcohol.
This is liquid calories and sugar that people often don't "count" but can really add up. Remember that alcohol is a depressant and makes you less inhibited to say "no" to things like food, makes you forget about eating, or convinces you that you haven't eaten much. And even though you don't chew it, it's still a carb that turns to sugar, raises your blood sugar and, in turn, releases insulin, which increases fat-storage in the body and inhibits fat-burning.
6. Drink more water.
Winter can be dehydrating due to the heating of homes/buildings. I know MY skin and lips always get drier in winter. Drinking water also helps fill you up before your meal and can rehydrate you after a glass of beer or a cocktail. If you don't like drinking cold water when it's cold outside, drink it at room temperature or heat it up. Herbal tea (non-caffeinated and non-sweetened) counts as plain water, so bring some bags with you when you go out, drink at the office in place of coffee, and have at home to take the chill off.
7. Remember, it's a holiDAY, not a holiMONTH.
Most holidays are just celebrated on one day. Keep that in mind and focus on enjoying the "exceptions" of the one day (instead of a week or a month), then get back to your regular eating routine the next day (and send the leftovers home with guests--especially desserts).
Use these simple tips to take the "gobble gobble" out of the season so you'll have less weight to lose once the new year comes around and you can focus on achieveing your weight loss goals more quickly.

I'm going to show you how to drop pounds of fat while at home. In the time it takes most people to drive to and from a gym, you'll complete your workout for the day.
Weight Loss Exercises that Work
1. Stair work
Most people live in a house, townhouse, condo, or apartment that have stairs in it or really close by. USE THEM. This is beyond simple. All I want you to do is walk up the stairs and walk back down. Keep doing that. Over and over and over. Do this for AT LEAST 15 minutes before you stop. Don't stop while doing this. If you can do this for 20-25 minutes, even better.
I suggest you do this 5-6 days a week. Now come on, how easy is that? If you live in a single story house, then go to tip #2.
2. Do 200 bodyweight squats as fast as you can
You can do these however you want, you just need to do 200 everyday. The actual part of doing these will take you less than 4 minutes. I recommend that you start doing 25 as fast as you can.
Then take a rest. Then repeat. Keep doing sets of 25 until you've done all 200. It's not as hard or time consuming as it seems. Try it. It peels off fat quickly.
These are 2 weight loss exercises that work, so at the very least use them for the next 2 weeks and see for yourself.

10 Essential Steps to Finally Achieving Fat Loss Success

A can-do attitude is so important. The foundation of this is a real desire to achieve. Think about what you want and why. Think about how highly you prioritise a healthy lifestyle and what you are prepared to change to achieve this.
2. GOAL SETTING & GETTING.
Be clear about what you want to achieve. Write it down. Write it where you can see it regularly. Be precise and aim high! Then break it down into manageable chunks and work on one piece at a time. Remind yourself of your goals regularly and don't be afraid to update them. Keep an index card in your bag or by your computer (or on the fridge...) so you can keep your mind on the prize!
3. ACTIVITY.
Increase general activity any way you can. This is so important and can cover the effects of the odd missed workout! There are people who never 'work out' officially but are still fit as they are naturally active in their daily lives - walking or cycling around, using stairs not lifts, performing manual work etc. Look honestly into your life and seek out the pockets of activity you can exploit.
4. PLANNING AND PREPARATION.
Without planning, how can you expect to succeed? We don't leave for a journey with no map, otherwise we would only end up getting lost, or back where we started if we are lucky!
This applies to planning your approach (what am I going to eat, how and when am I going to exercise etc.) as well as planning the details (e.g. menu plans for the week's meals feeding into a shopping list that you stick to). Plan what you are going to choose when you go out, looking online for menus if you can so you can make healthy choices in advance. On the exercise side, you need to decide which activities you want to take part in and schedule them into your diary - if you wait for a free 30 mins you are never going to find it! Schedule it in and commit to your appointment.
5. NUTRITION.
Clean it up! Eat lots of veggies, plenty of fruit, lean proteins, good fats and plenty of water.
Minimise anything packaged or that does not fall into the above categories. Experiment, play with your food! Focus on enjoying the good stuff rather than the foods you are minimising or avoiding. Improving the quality of the diet should automatically result in the weight dropping off, but you also need to pay attention to eating moderate portions and ensuring you don't over-do the more calorie-dense foods, as ultimately calories do count.
6. EXERCISE.
Daily activity is one part of the equation, and the other is including periods of more structured intense activity. This should cover both resistance and cardio training and ideally you should aim to spend around 45 - 60 mins, 3 - 5 times a week on this element.
7. RECOVERY.
Yes, rest is encouraged! Ensure you have adequate rest between intense training sessions. A common error is going too hard at the outset and putting yourself off or causing injury. Plan your workout days in advance and stick to it, letting yourself recover but staying active. Active recovery is great and can include walking, cycling, swimming etc. to help keep the blood flowing through the muscles and actually ease out any soreness from a previous session.
Getting enough sleep is also crucial: 7-9 hours a night is optimal. Your training will suffer if you are not getting enough sleep, as will your mood and energy levels.
8. STRESS AND TIME MANAGEMENT.
You need to prioritise your health in order to effectively deal with all that life throws at you. Once you have acknowledged that you are going to make this a priority it is then time to look into how you can achieve this. Are there things cluttering up your life? Are they all really that important? Could you spend 30 mins less time on the internet or watching TV in the evenings and use that time to squeeze in a training session? Can you delegate certain tasks? We often feel that 'to get a job done properly I might as well do it myself' but sometimes we need to let it go, allow someone else to 'learn' to do it for us! It may not be perfect, but it will free you up some time!
9. CONSISTENCY.
No matter what nutrition or training plan you choose to follow, you will get success if you stick with it, so long as it is a quality approach and not some quick-fix fad. Any 'magic bullet' promise means you start out with the view that you will deprive yourself for a short period of time and then go back to 'normal'. You will find that certain approaches work better for you than others, but you need to focus less on the detail and more on ensuring the changes are being implemented consistently and ongoing on a regular basis.
10. LOG AND REVIEW.
In order to find out if things are working, you need to take measurements at the start and then re-measure on a regular basis. Logging what you are doing is also very important. Logging food intake is one of the most important things you can do to ensure success as it provides you with some accountability, as well as an historical record so you can look back on things that worked well and things that didn't.
To Sum Up:
So, to conclude, you are in the driving seat and it is up to you to take control! No plan or advice is worth anything if the plan or advice is not implemented, and only you can do that. So you need to decide to make changes and to visualise success, acknowledging the fact that there will be obstacles to overcome.
The important thing is to take action - moving, no matter how slowly, in the right direction!
