Natural Fat Loss - The Real Key To Getting Lean For Life

What do I mean by 'natural fat loss'?

Natural fat loss is living in such a way that your body becomes the very best fat incinerating furnace it can be for life, day in day out. It is not about losing weight. That is the result but in many ways not the real goal. The real goal is to put into place the habitual behaviors and attitudes that will keep you lean for life.

Of course natural fat loss can only occur if you are eating clean with a well managed structure for fueling your body precisely the vast majority of the time. Putting the processes for shopping, cooking and packing clean food every day is what will determine whether you lose body fat.

The other half of the puzzle though is the mental game that confounds and ultimately defeats many people. For fat loss to be truly 'natural' it must not feel like a burden or represent a denial or deprivation of any sort. The lifestyle habits above need to be adhered to but a positive and mentally balanced attitude towards food and the process itself are your keys to victory.

Why?

Because if fat loss is not just a simple by product of how you live you life rather than a psychological and logistical burden you will eventually crack. Even if you reach your goal, you will have to fight with every ounce of your strength to stay there (or at least it will feel like it) that it makes your life miserable.

Right now I'm planning what I want to cook up for Christmas. It's an enjoyable and exciting process. Am I dreading not being able to eat on Christmas? Am I worried about getting fat?
Hell no. Why would I?

Yet many people who are trying to lose fat do just this. Yet by thinking this way they have made their fat loss process entirely 'unnatural'.

My entire ongoing fat loss process is as natural as can be. Eating clean is such a routine that if I don't, I find myself all day thinking 'well what do I want to eat?'. If I feel like I want something that is not clean food then I will just have it without a second thought.

It is this peace of mind that is the key to natural fat loss. Counting calories, supplements and diets by themselves are only a temporary solution at best. A lean body for life must achieved through a different path.

Seriously, keeping yourself motivated to 'eat right' is a grind. you can't deny living in a world full of delicious choice can you? How long do you expect to keep that up? Maybe a few months, maybe a year or two? But what about the rest of your life? Ever thought of that?

Muscle Building For Weight Loss

At any given moment at every fitness facility in America you will find the ratio of cardio machine to weight equipment users to be enormously in favor of cardio equipment. If I asked every person doing cardio are you doing it for 'cardiovascular improvement' what percent would say yes? My very educated and experienced guess would be almost none. Virtually everyone's MAIN reason is for weight loss, with the 'healthy heart' aspect a very distant second. These people couldn't BE more misguided in their efforts.

Now before I explain, let me address those of you that are going to say 'but I know someone who started walking/running and lost X lbs' or something to that effect. Two points. First they started walking/running, which means that they were sedentary before more than likely. If you do NOTHING and then add ANY physical activity to your life and all else stays they same, you will lose weight. Your calorie burn rate would increase. They could have started gardening instead of running and would've lost weight, assuming they had been a couch potato previously.

Secondly weight loss through cardio is less likely to be permanent and it isn't the most efficient way to drop pounds. Unless they change something else they will have to maintain the walking/running at the same level forever or the weight would come back on.

The benefits of weight training to longevity and quality of life are irrefutable. There is loads of scientific study to back this up. The benefits to 'weight loss' aren't as publicized because it's a different KIND of weight loss. When you step on the scales after a month of weight training you may NOT weigh less. But your body composition will have changed as you loss fat and gain muscle. Muscle does in fact weigh more than fat (it's more dense), so a pound of muscle takes up less space on your body than a pound of fat. So you weigh the same but LOOK smaller. But here is the REAL benefit. If you add 3 lbs of muscle to your body, you will burn as many calories just sitting there as you would've running a mile every day. Think about that. You can run a mile every day for the rest of your life to lose some weight or add 3 lbs of muscle and with the same calorie intake as before, and your body burns that same miles worth of work just 'being'. Oh and by the way, you burn more calories in a one hour weight session than you do running for an hour (unless you run instead of jog/walk). So after the 3 lbs have been added you look smaller, stronger and better, with less fat than before. Who cares what the scales say?

Vibration Training and Slimming

This week I have done google searches for the effect of vibration training on slimming and weight (fat) loss and found hundreds of responses from all sorts of different companies promising slimming miracles if you go to their gym and stand on this platform for 10 minutes. Claims such as these are some of the promises made:

Helps Reduce Cellulite
Clears Lymph glands
Exercises & Oxygenates the entire body
Slims, Tones, and increases flexibility
Stimulates Human Growth Hormones
Reverse Osteoporosis
Feels Wonderful, Like a Deep Massage
Stimulates Serotonin (Happy Hormone)
Gently re-aligns organs
Clears Lymph glands
Reduces cortisol
Increases circulation

But no-one ever backs up their claims with results.((Lets look at the evidence for vibration and slimming. Well as far as I can see there are only two studies that have examined the effects of whole body vibration training and fat loss, and the results are contradictory. The first study was conducted in non-active females. This study compared whole body vibration with conventional training and found vibration to be slightly superior in terms of strength. There was also a slight increase lean mass (fat-free mass) with the vibration training. But there was no effects of any of the training on fat loss (which is a little strange and needs repeating I think). The other study was conducted in physically active men and compared squatting with and without vibration. The results from this suggest that adding vibration did increase the energy demand of the exercise, which seems reasonable to me as recruitment muscle patterns would change and efficiency would be reduced with vibration.

So far we have discussed the potential benefits of whole body vibration on slimming, but vibration has been applied to the respiratory system also, and preliminary results suggest that youbreathe reduces cortisol and increases growth hormone. Further studies are underway to examine these effects as they could promote fat loss.

So, vibration does look to have potential for slimming, but the studies have not been done properly or in enough volume to draw conclusions. I hope we can change this at London South Bank where we are now investigating the physics, biomechanics, physiology and neuroscience of whole body and targeted vibration training.(Of course the key to slimming and fat loss is increasing metabolic rate and controlling diet. Now if vibration training helps users to keep going to the gym then that can only be a good thing.

Good Carbs Vs Bad Carbs

The word "carbs" is everywhere these days, and there are many diets which are either "for" carbs or "against" carbs. The public is getting confused about all this confusion over carbs, and nobody seems to really understand what to do when dieting these days. So we'll explain the simple truth about carbs and what it takes to begin losing weight immediately.

A "carb" is just a short hand way of saying "a carbohydrate".

A carbohydrate is a special type of calorie which contains extra energy, which is why you'll feel more energetic when eating foods which are rich in carbohydrates. For example, if you eat a bag of candy or a piece of cake then you'll feel very energetic afterwards, because these are foods which are rich in excess carbs. The truth is that not all carbs are fattening, because there are different types of carbs -- there are "good carbs" and there are "bad carbs" too. However, if you are overweight (or if you're one of those people who has been overweight since childhood) then it's 99% certain that your daily foods contain too many bad carbs -- and not enough good carbs. Sugar is a type of bad carb, and most people think they know how to avoid sugar. But the truth is that sugar has MANY different forms which are very hard to spot in foods. ...And this is why you'll never lose weight until you learn to eat good carbs only.

For example, most people falsely believe that eating foods sweetened with honey are somehow healthier than eating foods sweetened with sugar --- but in reality honey is just as fattening as sugar. In fact, honey is filled with the same fattening carbs as sugar. Why is this true? This is true because honey (and other bad carbs) cause your blood sugar level to rise sharply after a meal (which is why you'll feel energetic after eating a honey based meal). This causes you to gain weight because when your blood sugar rises then your body is forced to over-produce a hormone called "insulin" (because insulin is needed to help process excess blood sugar). And when your body produces too much insulin then fat storage will occur. But if you eat good carbs (instead of bad carbs) then your blood sugar level will not skyrocket after each meal, and thus you can burn fat and lose weight much easier. Plus, you'll feel energetic all day on a more even level, without the "highs" and "lows" that most overweight people experience.

Why Breakfast is Key if You Want to Speed Up Your Metabolism

Many people skip the most important meal of the day simply because they are in a hurry or they think that it will help them to lose weight. Unfortunately for them this is farther from the truth then they may think. Breakfast is one of the most important eating habits anyone can have because it can have such a positive impact on their health and weight loss efforts.

Breakfast is beneficial in many ways. After a nights sleep your body's energy supplies are low and its fuel tank needs to be filled. In this case it needs its energy in the form of calories, along with other nutrients such as vitamins and minerals, fiber, and protein. Breakfast helps build up your blood glucose level which is low when you wake up, jump start your day, and helps speed up your metabolism, which is your most powerful fat burning tool.

Diets - Who Are The Losers?

The problem with most diets is they're too specific to fit our lives. However, despite the promise of dramatic weight loss offered by them, the success of crash diets is largely non-existent. The assertion by the inventors of fad low-carb diets is that it is the low-fat diet that is responsible for overall weight gain and the rise in obesity. In a nutshell, one thing that you need to know about fad diets is that the positives are outweighed by the negatives. So, my suggestion is before spending money on all those diets, sit and talk to yourself and decide if you are willing to stick to a plan, and go through it.

The resurgence of high-protein diets is based primarily on the misconception that carbohydrates alone induce weight gain. One major part of these diets is not allowing proteins to mix with carbohydrates. The major claim behind most high-protein diets is that insulin (a hormone that regulates blood sugar), not calories, makes you fat. The nitrogen in high protein diets is a burden on the kidneys and liver. One of the most important reasons for the popularity of high protein diets is they work as people lose lots of weight fast but it's mostly water. Frankly, most weight loss plans are about money and there is a lot of money in the weight loss industry, hence the incentive to come up with easy diets is therefore huge.

As being over-weight becomes an issue for more and more people, the demand for proper, nutritionally balanced and clinically proven diets is on the rise. The end result of all the diets is that none of them fits everyone. One problem with a lot of weight loss plans is they're hard to stay on for long periods of time. There is really no end in sight because as the income and the average caloric intake of developing country populations increase, obesity is the end result as a relative shift in diets is taking place.

The long term safety of most of these diets is unknown. The end result of all the diets is that none of them fits everyone as I said before and bear in mind that the initial weight loss from low-carb diets is water weight. Losing weight is relatively easy with many "fad" diets; maintaining the loss with these diets is difficult and largely impossible to sustain.

How To Finally Lose Those Love Handles

Love handles are a nice name given to a horrible problem, which can affect both men and women. Theseare fat deposits that occur around the mid-section, and are sometimes referred to as a spare tire.

They occur when excess fat accumulates in the body, due to a poor diet and lack of exercise. The best way to lose the love handles is to start an overall exercise and diet program, in order to get rid of any excess fat accumulating all over the body.

Love handles can happen to almost anyone, especially those who are overweight. Trying to only target a certain area can be difficult, but performing aerobic and cardiovascular exercises can work to target all areas of the body to get rid of fat.

There are also many fast paced exercises that use many of the core muscles, such as running, jump roping, or using an elliptical training machine. By targeting several areas of the body to provide an overall fat burning workout, they can disappear in a short period of time.

Diet is another factor that can cause love handles to develop, since they are excess fat deposits that weren't digested. Avoiding foods that are high in fat and saturated fats is a start, since these items directly create fat in the body.

You can also do interval training which basically consists of short intense sperts of energy during an exercise. For example start out walking on a treadmill then increase the speed. Shortly there after slow it back down to a walk then speed it up again. This will increase your heart rate which will help to stimulate your metabolism.

Engage in exercises such as Pilates and Yoga. If you are a member of a gym use their sauna facilities presuming they have them. This can help you relax after exercising and will also help to burn calories.

Last but not least improve the quality of food you eat. Eat more fresh food such as fruit and veggies. Drinks lots of water as this will prevent water retention. Cut out caffeine and sugary sodas.

Getting Rid Of Love Handles

Getting rid of love handles has become a very annoying task because there are so many different ways people are told they can lose them. But the fact is most of them take too long to accomplish simply because people are taking the harder route! The harder route being sit-ups and conventional dieting.

Most people assume that the answer to getting rid of love handles lies with doing sit-ups, taking fat burning pills, or conventional dieting. The problem with these is that:

Sit-ups don't work well because the love handles contain thick fat that is ridiculously hard to burn by doing sit-ups. The thicker the fat in the love handles, the longer it will take you to get a result out of them. People who do sit-ups and see no results then do them more often and end up hurting themselves without seeing any results.

Taking fat burning pills is unnatural and can have unhealthy side effects. Drugs force the body to do something that isn't natural to it and when that happens, you can do alot more bad than good to getting rid of love handles.

Conventional dieting like sit-ups also works very slowly because the thick layer of fat which creates love handles is also going to be too hard for conventional dieting to get rid of.

Now here are several things you can do to help you get rid of love handles:

Drink plenty of water and do not eat fatty foods such as fast foods and junk foods. Doing so will stop making the fat creating the love handles weaken and then doing exercises will have a much better effect. This can take sometime but it's easy to implement into your life and requires little or no effort.

Walk-Jog-Run for up to 30 minutes a day. This helps drill your metabolism which will slowly burn the fat. It works better than doing sit-ups because your whole body will be working. Don't overdo it though. Just walk-jog-run at a comfortable pace and if you need to take a break just walk, don't stop. Makes for an excellent routine. You'll be getting rid of your love handles safely and in a healthy manner.

Although these 2 tips can help greatly in the long run, many people want fast results. Some have planned events coming up and want to look good for them and don't have time to invest in the above tips.

Snack Foods That Burn Fat

We all like snack foods. It's like getting a reward for no special reason. But, wouldn't it be great though if this reward also was great at burning fat? It's the equivalent to baking your cake and eating it too.

Well my weight loss compatriots, here are some snack foods that not only taste great, but aide in your fat burning process.

How do I know this?

The following snack foods have a GI index of 45 or below. For those of you unfamiliar with this index, it's a ranking based on how quickly a carbohydrate is digested by your body. The lower the index number the longer it takes to digest, which means for you more calories burned.

Drink More Water to Lose More Weight

I'm sure most of you have heard that drinking more water will help you lose excess body weight.

This is completely true, but how does this work?

There are four ways drinking more water helps you shed weight...

1.Instead of drinking soda, coffee or juice, you are drinking a calorie free beverage.

2.Water helps your body flush out impurities, which naturally require your body to produce more fat.

3.When you are properly hydrated, your body doesn't retain excess water.

4.When your muscles are hydrated, they work more effectively and efficiently -- ultimately burning more calories during exercise.

Let's go over each of these in detail...

Instead of drinking soda, coffee or juice, you are drinking a calorie free beverage.

The average 8oz. glass of juice contains 110 Calories, a 16oz. caffe latte espresso from Starbucks (made with fat-free milk) has 160 calories, and a 12 oz. soda will add 150 Calories to your diet.
If you only replaced one soda a day with 12 oz. of water for one week, you will have eliminated 1050 Calories from your diet. If this is the only change you make to your diet, you will lose 1 pound of body fat every three weeks.

Water helps your body flush out impurities, which naturally require your body to produce more fat.

Each of us is exposed to environmental impurities each day: impure air, chlorinated drinking water, pesticides on our fruits and vegetables, etc. etc. As these impurities enter our system, our body's natural defense is to coat these poisons with extra fat. The more polluted our food, water and air, the more fat our body will produce to protect our organs from these destructive chemicals.

Water is required by your kidneys and liver to excrete these toxic substances. Drinking more water helps your body eliminated these impurities, rather than retain them in your system -- thereby, reducing the amount of excess fat produced.

When you are properly hydrated, your body doesn't retain extra water.

If you are dehydrated, your body is in "survival mode." Meaning, your body is storing every drop of water is gets -- just to be sure it will be able to continue basic functions. When you increase your water consumption, your body will slowly realize there isn't a water shortage anymore and it will release it's stores of water.

When your muscles are hydrated, they perform more effectively and efficiently -- ultimately burning more calories.

If a muscle is starved for water, it is unable to contract fully. This reduces the amount of work it can do and limits the body's ability to repair fatigued muscles after a workout. Drinking enough water helps your muscle function properly and more effectively -- this makes every workout a bigger calorie burner.

So how much should you drink?

A good measure is half your body weight, in ounces. For example, if you weigh 200 pounds, drink 100 ounces of water, minimum, each day.

Not only will your body function better, your skin will look great and you will just "feel better." Your body will reward you for drinking more water by shedding extra pounds of fat and retained water.

Wu-Yi Tea - Natural Weight Loss and Good Health!

For nearly five centuries, many Asian people have relied upon the numerous health benefits and medicinal qualities of wu-yi tea. Named for the mountainous region of China where it is harvested, Mt. Wuyi Shan, this type of tea is more familiarly known as oolong or wu long, and today, it is gaining more and more attention as a natural way to effectively lose weight.

The complex fermenting process of creating this type of tea gives it different, yet distinctive flavor, and like fine wine, wu-yi will also vary in aroma and fullness. Described as robust, and not much unlike coffee with its rich, roasted flavor, this type of tea has recently been touted by many as a natural, safe answer to weight loss.

The Natural Fat Burning Qualities of Wu-Yi Tea

A substance found in wu-yi known as polyphenol is also found in green and black teas, but in a lower concentration. Polyphenol stimulates a biological process called lipolysis, which simply means the break down of fat cells. The polyphenol causes this by activating certain enzymes that work to dissolve triglycerides (fats) in the body, which in turn, raises the resting metabolic rate actually making it easier to lose weight and control excess pounds.

According to case studies regarding the tea and its fat burning properties, participants were able to lose an average of 10 to 15 pounds of weight by drinking three to four cups of wu-yi per day. Of course, the actual amount of weight lost will also depend on the types of food you eat and how much, as well as your level of physical activity. However, results do continue to show the tea seems to speed up the weight loss process when drank on a regular basis.

In one particular study, three groups of 120 Japanese women were asked to drink either water, green tea, or wu-yi after their meals for six weeks. At the end of the study, the women who drank wu-yi reportedly increased their energy expenditure, or raised their metabolism, by as much as 10%, whereas the green tea group increased their expenditure by only 4%. The group who drank water experienced no increase at all.

Wu-yi tea is most effective for burning fat in its natural form, without any unnecessary ingredients or additives, as the natural components of the tea itself are all that's needed to reap the benefits.

Some Other Health Benefits

Besides naturally burning fat, speeding metabolism and aiding with weight loss, wu-yi tea also provides many other valuable health benefits that have been clinically researched and documented. In addition to protecting the body's cells from certain types of cancer, the tea has also been shown to reduce the risk of heart attack, as well as strengthen the bones, and protect the teeth from plaque and decay.

With several hundred years of use dating back through many ancient Chinese cultures, the positive health benefits are hard to dispute as more and more people discover the connection between weight loss, good health, and drinking wu-yi tea.

Weight Loss Tips - Three Foods You Must Avoid Like The Plague

You're about to discover three types of food that you should avoid like the plague, unless you really like putting on weight. So here they are...

1. Hydrogenated Oils (Trans Fats) and Partially Hydrogenated Oils

The process of hydrogenation started in the 1950s to extend packed food shelf life.

Hydrogenation is the process of heating oil and passing hydrogen bubbles through it. The fatty acids in the oil then acquire some of the hydrogen, which makes it denser.

If you fully hydrogenate, you create a solid (a fat) out of the oil. But if you stop part way, you get a semi-solid partially hydrogenated oil that has a consistency like butter, but much cheaper. These fats also called, trans-fats, disguise themselves as regular fats, and build up in your arteries.

The difference is that they don't do the same job as the regular fats in your body do, so instead of escorting poisons and toxins to your liver and protecting your body, they hang around, build on your arteries and cause heart disease and arteriosclerosis. Trans-fats are poisons. They interfere with the metabolic process by taking the place of a natural substance (good fats) that performs a critical function.

Your body has no defense against them. And get this... Many European countries have either BANNED or have set dates for ELIMINATION of hydrogenated oils in foods! Hydrogenated oils are found in almost all packaged foods. Take a look at the ingredients the next time you are at the grocery store and you will see just how prevalent these are in the foods you eat.

2. Coffee

Cringe.... Yes, coffee contains caffeine--a diuretic--that increases the frequency of urination which causes dehydration. It keeps you awake, elevates your heart rate, blood pressure and increases the secretion of acid into your stomach... blah, blah, blah. What concerns me most is that coffee puts stress on your adrenal system. This translates to more stress. Aren't you under enough stress already?

Coffee drinkers tend to use the drink as a pick-me-up, but what happens is that it becomes a drag-me-down, because the body, while it experiences a short caffeine buzz, drops to a lower energy level when the high wears off. At this lover level, you're not only feeling down, but you're burning your sugar stores. This creates sugar cravings.

3. Soda

Soda is simply sugar. I can't tell you how many people I've known who quit drinking soda shed a bunch of weight. I don't mean 1-2 pounds, I mean 10-15. There are 250 calories in a 20-oz bottle of Coke. Not to mention there is caffeine! Take the effects of caffeine and add them to a sugar overload and you have one unhealthy body. Do you drink soda and coffee?!

If so, and you want more energy, I will tell you right now that dropping those two poisonous habits will improve your daily stamina by 100%! So keep that in mind when you're trying to lose weight.

How to Stop Night Eating - Amazing Weight Loss Tips

How many times have you ruined your diet by eating before going to bed? Late night snacks are one of the biggest diet-killers. After all, it's not easy to resist grabbing a sandwich or a candy bar as you relax on the sofa to watch your favorite evening TV show. In fact, doctors now even diagnose some of their patients with NES (Night Eating Syndrome).

There are two reasons why late night eating is bad for weight loss. Firstly, it ruins your diet. Secondly, your metabolism slows down when you sleep. This means that whatever you eat before bedtime is more likely to turn into fat cells.

However, I have good news for you - there are many ways to stop night eating! In this article, I am going to show you five best tried-and-true tricks to keep yourself out of the kitchen before bedtime.

1. Brush Your Teeth

This is the simplest way. Although it doesn't always work, it usually helps, and it's great for your dental health, too! Brushing your teeth tends to weaken your appetite and helps a lot of people to avoid late night snacks.

2. Never Starve During the Day

Make sure that you eat enough during the day to avoid feeling hungry at night. If you starve yourself, you will be so hungry in the evening that a binge will be unavoidable. 5-6 healthy meals a day won't just stop late night snacking, but will also help your overall diet by keeping your metabolism steady.

3. Drink Instead of Eating

If you really feel hungry, try drinking hot water or tea to help soothe your appetite as well as fill your stomach somewhat. For obvious reasons, it's best to stick with decaf drinks, or you won't be able to sleep for the next few hours! Avoid sweetened drinks like a plague - orange juice may be healthy, but all the sugar in it isn't.

4. Stay Active

Try to keep your body moving and your hands busy during the evening. Relaxing on the sofa is a great way to de-stress after a long day; however, it also puts you at the highest risk of unconscious eating. If possible, try going for a quick evening job - it will not only stop the craving, but also burn up some calories in the process!

5. Keep Junk Food Away

Finally, if you really can't help late night snacks, make sure they're healthy. This means turning your house into a junk food-free zone. Store only foods that are healthy for you. Fruits and vegetables are great, since they not only will your stomach, but also contain little calories.

As you can see, overcoming late night food cravings isn't hard at all. Just by following these five simple steps you will make sure that night eating will quickly become a thing of the past.

Eat to Live - Don't Live to Eat

If you intend to lose weight and keep to your goal weight forever, you have to change the way you relate to food. Many of us reluctant to commit to a weight control diet, "live to eat". Eating is the focus of our daily lives and we have no set diet plan. You know, you are never going to lose fat and get fit if you cannot get your head around the advantages of "eating to live" over "living to eat".

You cannot view food as a sinful pleasure, a wicked indulgence or just something that is plain old naughty and forbidden. Unless you are smearing a very close friend's intimate body parts with an edible substance to be licked off later, you really can't justify food as something to be connected with any sort of lustful emotion.

If you are going to lose fat and get fit for the rest of your life, then your diet plan has to incorporate a genuine acceptance of food as fuel for your ever faithful body that is currently doing it's level best for you under the difficult conditions it is suffering. Make your body absolutely ecstatic. Give it high quality nutritious food and you will live a lot better and you'll probably last a lot longer too.

Here are 3 simple steps for learning to "eat to live".

1. Stop grazing. If you spend your waking hours wandering about chewing little fatty, salty and sugary treats, then you have to stop. Right now. These moreish little morsels can be responsible for hundreds of calories a day that you haven't even noticed slipping silently down you eager and accepting gullet. If you snack or eat meals while standing, wandering about or watching TV, then eating is not your focus activity and you will overindulge, every day again. Be aware of this negative practice and desist. It's only a bad habit, like chewing your nails. You have to catch yourself doing it, but you know what to look for now, so you'll be OK.

2. Make choices. Tell yourself you can't have (and indeed don't want) everything. I am not
saying you should forbid yourself certain types of food, because you and I both know exactly what will happen then, don't we? I'm saying tell yourself, "Right, I am allowing myself 500 calories for this meal. What's it going to be?" Exercise a little restraint. It's good for your diet plan as well as for your character. Less is more - especially in regard to being more effective for your weight control diet.

3. Eat less, but more often. You expect a lot from your body. You want to be fit and healthy and active, even during the long snoozy hours between lunch and dinner. To get the most out of your body, you have to feed it right. You can't keep skipping breakfast and run on empty till your first saturated fat snack around 11am. You really should not wolf down a take away lunch on the run. You mustn't punish yourself further with a massive dinner to digest through the night. To give your body the food it deserves (and deep down, it craves like mad) you have to eat breakfast. That's number one. Give your stomach something to work on and have energy to burn. Have a mid morning snack. Something nutritious, like fruit or a few unsalted nuts or even a protein bar or shake. Sit down to enjoy a lunch consisting of complex carbs, protein and mainly unsaturated fats. A chicken salad with a bread roll would do the trick. Have another piece of fruit or a protein shake mid afternoon. This will wake you up nicely. Eat sparingly at night. Have a low carb dinner and about 1 hour later, have some fruit and low fat yoghurt. It takes a few weeks to get used to, but it will work for you if you really want to lose weight.

You just have to put some thought, rather than emotion, into your diet plan. Don't fixate on food - don't "live to eat". There are much more exciting and interesting things to do in life.

Is There An Effective Ab Workout For Belly Loss?

Drum Roll ....... and the answer is:

None! Nada! Nothing! By themselves, Ab workouts don't increase your metabolic rate enough for effective belly loss.

Following the advice of Mike Geary, a trainer, nutrition specialist, and fitness professional, and working at my own belly to the point where I am comfortable with my abs, I get asked what the best types of exercises and workouts for losing stubborn stomach fat in order to bring out visible six pack abs. The problem is that most people with "a spare tyre", looking to try to uncover their abs are searching for some "instant wonder solution" that is going to cut the fat NOW.

The truth is that you don't lose stomach fat by doing ab workouts. They are going about it completely the wrong way.

If you want to reduce your body fat for good, simply doing ab exercises or abdominal workouts to flatten your stomach is a waste of time. You will achieve better, more long lasting results from a correct workout program.

A full body workout consisting of, amongst others, various forms of squats, lunges, deadlifts, clean & presses, snatches, swings, presses and pulls, mountain climbers and sprinting would best answer the question "is there an effective Ab workout for belly loss?".

Combining exercises to give a full body workout rather than just exercises that target the midsection would give a more rounded program and better long term results. The way these exercises are combined is also very important to maximize your metabolism.

Of course, a certain amount of exercises that directly target the abs and core are important, but they are only a small fraction of the programs as your time is better spent focusing on the full body exercises. These rouse the greatest hormonal and metabolic changes within the body. In addition, a spin-off of working out using mostly full body multi-joint exercises are that you in some way work your entire midsection.

Remember, the key factor in being able to actually SEE your abs is in the area of NUTRICIAN. The old adage, "You are what you eat" is particularly true of your abs - you eat a burger a day, you look like a burger! If you want a 6 pack, cut out the "6 packs (of beer)". Nutrician is king!
So let's clear this up for good...

If you focus too much time on situps, crunches, leg raises, or worse, on those overpriced and underperforming (and I know - I've got one collecting dust under my bed) ab workout machines, you'll never reach the results you desire. If you want results, combine a healthy diet of natural, processed whole foods with a combination of multi-joint exercises. In no time, those mysterious six-pack abdominals will be yours!

Get Rid Of Love Handles & Body Fat Fast

You may have asked yourself a thousand times, "How can I get rid of my love handles"? To get the ball rolling start off with the high effective back twist which is great for your lower back as well as the upper back, neck, hips and yes, the waist. Your movement of side to side twisting will keep your vertebrae well aligned; loosen your hips which will ensure better blood circulation.
To start the back twist properly, stand straight with your back also straight and your feet should be parallel, almost shoulder width apart. Just bend your knees a little and let the weight be on your legs and the arms should be relaxed on your side as you look straight ahead. You must gently twist the upper part of body and head to the right so that you are looking directly behind you.

You should make sure that your body remains straight during this exercise. There should be no swaying backward or forward. Remember to let your arms feel totally relaxed so as to let your arms move naturally while you start to gain speed. Then your arms will sway through in wide swings. It is best to do at least 10-15 twists for each side.

Another exercise you can do is the hip swivel. This will do wonders to trim your hips as well as your waist. It also improves your blood circulation in the abdominal area as well as the pelvic area. Ailments such as hip pain, lower back pain, and stiffness in the hip joints, can be greatly relieved with this exercise.

Another addition that blends in perfectly with your tummy exercise routines is known as Toe Circles. This exercise barely takes ten minutes a day. This is an exercise that can be done easily on the floor. Just in case you have any abdominal problems or lower back problems, it is best for you to consult you're doctor or professional fitness expert first.

First, you have to lie flat on your back without any support of a pillow and keep your arms by your side. Take a deep breath to relax yourself completely. It is important to keep your legs straight when you attempt this exercise.

As you exhale through your nose or mouth, you should raise both your feet very slowly. Point your toes and slowly move them to create small circles in the air. This can be done in either clockwise or anti clockwise direction. Try to complete three circles and then bring your feet back to the floor. Take a deep breath again and then move your feet in the opposite direction.

Alternatively, you can just lift your straightened legs up in the air and let it hang like that. Both these exercises will strengthen your abs and stomach area. So do these two exercises regularly!

Dieting to achieve rapid weight loss need not be hard work. It can actually be quite easy and fun. It is known that dietary fiber helps to lose weight by blocking the absorption of fat in the body. On top of helping the body to flush fat through the body, dietary fiber will also help to burn the extra calories consumed. Unbelievable but true.

Fiber is the part of plant foods that cannot be digested completely, so that it passes through the digestive tract intact. Plant foods contain a mixture of different types of fibers. These fibers can be divided into soluble or insoluble, depending on their solubility in water. Insoluble fibers absorb many times their own weight in water, creating a soft bulk to the stool and hastening the passage of waste products out of the body. Soluble fibers are easily digested and when ingested, these fibers form a gel that slows the speed at which the stomach empties and the speed at which simple sugars are absorbed from the intestine.

Rapid weight loss can be achieved by consuming more fiber because fiber burns up calories by itself. This is because intestinal tract has to work harder to digest fiber foods. The body's metabolism therefore will use more energy for fiber digestion and as a result will burn most of the calories that the fiber food contains. It may sound illogical but some of the high-fiber food can actually burn up more calories than what they contain. When this happen, it will actually cause a deficit of calories thus stored body fat in the body will be used for the production of energy.

In addition to blocking fat and burning calories, fiber foods bind with water in the intestinal tract and form bulk that will give the feeling of fullness early in the course of a meal. When less food is taken, fewer calories are consumed. Since fiber food takes longer to digest, it will take a longer time feel hunger and hence reduce the possibility of snacking in between meals. High fiber foods such as fruits and vegetables, whole grain cereals and breads, yams and sweet potatoes, and legumes are low in fat calories and have a high water content. Eating high fiber food will actually allow you to eat less yet enjoy more and at the same time enjoy rapid weight loss effortlessly.

The Secret to Stubborn Pounds and Belly Fat

Your body is protecting you.
You have two small pyramid shaped glands that sit on top of your kidneys called the adrenals. Your adrenals are nicknamed your stress glands or your stress organs. The hormones they release can be triggered by emotional stress, chemical stress, or even physical trauma. The adrenals are a part of a feedback loop that helps control and respond to various functions of your body's hormonal and nervous systems.

These tiny adrenal glands are responsible for the funny feeling you get when you are scared by something. Just imagine the last time you were driving or riding in the car, when suddenly another car cuts in front of you. The brakes are slammed to avoid an accident and hopefully the near accident was avoided. That "wave" of fear and funny adrenaline rush you get is called your "fight or flight response". This is an instinctive reaction by your body for your protection. This reaction is designed to either get you out of a dangerous situation or allow you to deal with a dangerous situation for your ultimate survival.

There are an amazing number of hormones being released to prepare you for stressful scenarios whenever the body deems it necessary. The problem occurs when this protective mechanism that is designed for promoting survival is fooled into being active when no true stressful event is present. When you get scared by something there are certain physiological functions that occur such as an increased heart rate to pump more blood to your extremities in case you need to flee, your digestive system stops breaking down food to allow more energy for other areas of the body and you become more focused. All of these responses occur during the excited state of the nervous system.

Stress and belly fat explained...stay with me I'm going somewhere with this.

The true problem occurs when your nervous system is functioning in the excited state during a relaxed scenario. Here's a brief example. If you are like millions of people in this country and enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea to start your day or get you through a mid afternoon meeting, to battle your chronic fatigue, you are causing this false scenario to occur. Caffeine is a researched and known stimulant that triggers the same functions that are triggered when you are scared. The problem is after you ingest the caffeine your body is left in the excited state during a relaxed scenario.

Some of the physiological effects are an increased heart rate, changes to the digestive system and better mental focus. This is great to avoid being caught sleeping in a boring meeting but not so great for your body. You have just sent the signals to your adrenals and nervous system that some dangerous scenario is occurring. The body is very smart but also very dumb. It will do what it's told just like a computer. When the user tells a computer to delete something, that's exactly what the computer will do. The body can't differentiate between right and wrong when it comes to releasing hormones and reactions to stress. Physiologically the body cannot tell whether you were almost in a car accident or sitting in the weekly board room meeting.
I'm often asked, what is the best way to lose belly fat?

While you will increase abdominal strength doing exercises, doing them is not the best way to lose fat. The quickest way to lose is through stress management. Stress and belly fat have a very intimate relationship that you can easily abolish. You must eliminate or decrease the stressful influences on the body so the adrenals don't release stress related hormones on a continual basis. When these hormones are released they travel through the blood stream in search of problems to fix. When no true problem is discovered your body will begin to prepare itself for some impending stressful scenario that the body assumes must be on the way. After all why would there be a stress response if no stress were coming?

A hormone that you may be familiar with is called cortisol. Cortisol is released when the body gets information that it is in danger. Cortisol is responsible for controlling inflammation and swelling when there is a physical stress on the body. Once the adrenals release the cortisol because of increased stress, the hormone does not just disappear if no trauma is discovered.
When there is no dangerous situation the one protective mechanism is to use the cortisol to store fat around internal organs to protect them from a future risk. This is where the unwanted belly fat comes from. When this hormone is triggered with other protective hormones it will appear that the exercise and dieting you have so intensely committed yourself to are in vain. The problem stems from another source and that is the reason for the poor results with your weight loss protocol.

How can you decrease the emotional, chemical and environmental stress?

Obviously we all have things that concern us. The best way to deal with emotional stress is by using avenues like prayer or meditation to help balance your mental well being. Exercising is a great way to promote adrenal health. This can be doing something as simple as walking, yoga, swimming or more intense types of exercise. The emotional component of stress is extremely common in our society and can be the most damaging. This is because we can potentially think "bad" thoughts constantly and constantly keep our system in a position to release fat storing hormones.

The chemical and environmental stressors are somewhat easier to handle because we can all make better choices of the products we consume and use. Are you on a diet? I recommend avoiding diets and just adopt better habits and lifestyle changes over a period of time. You have higher chance of sticking with it if you're not overwhelmed by the sudden changes in your routine.

The easiest changes to make are centered at the foods you eat. Avoid foods made with preservatives, additives and other synthetic chemicals that trigger stress responses. Substances like alcohol, nicotine and caffeine all cause the adrenals to become active. Sugars and artificial sweeteners also contribute to causing elevated adrenal stress. Weight loss pills will only make your problem worse when the bottle is finished and should be avoided at all cost. A great and simple way to start is to decrease the amount of liquids you consume that contain caffeine and excess sugars. Then choose a time frame to start reducing certain foods from your diet that lead to adrenal stress.

Environmental stress can be reduced by making better choices around the home and using more "green" products. Using more organic friendly cleaning products and personal hygiene products is not only better for your body but may also help you with your weight loss protocol. It has been researched for over half a century that certain types of chemicals will cause your hormonal system to function less than optimum. Research has been performed by the FDA, EPA, CDC, major pharmaceutical companies and medical universities showing the effects of certain chemicals on your body. The fancy name for these problems is "endocrine disruptors". I suggest you just search the term on Google and read the information for yourself.

Belly fat is only one of the symptoms that you will experience when the adrenals are compromised or fatigued. The adrenals are also responsible for a few other key functions in your body. The adrenals do not only control inflammation and swelling.

You may have adrenal fatigue if you notice any of the following symptoms: chronic fatigue, osteoporosis, trouble falling asleep or difficulty sleeping through the entire night, anxiety, constant worrying, high blood pressure, cravings, arthritis, difficult menstrual cycles, low sex drive, allergies and asthma.

One of the best ways to know if your adrenals are compromised is to have an Adrenal Stress Index performed. This is a saliva test that will measure your hormonal levels over a period of time. The test is non-invasive & can be performed wherever you are. Saliva is collected under real life conditions and there are no stressful blood draws and no gallon sized urine containers to carry around for 24 hours. What Causes a Beer Belly and How to Get Rid of It?

We all heard of the expression "beer belly". It's famous worldwide. A lot of people (mostly men) suffer from having it and wish to get rid of it. Yet the 1st question we need to tackle is what causes a beer belly, and does it really have to do with beer.

Let's start by saying that there are people who don't drink beer and walk around with a huge beer belly, and there are people who do drink beer yet remain slim. So beer in itself isn't some evil brew that causes our belly to inflate.

Having one is in fact caused by a calorie surplus which leads to the accumulation of fat on the torso. The reason why men have more beer bellies than women, is that women tend to gain weight mostly in the thigh and pelvic area, while men tend to gain weight in the abdomen. But even if you don't drink beer at all, other fatty and non-healthy food may cause a beer belly to appear.

Even though beer isn't the only possible culprit, it is detrimental to your health and weight. The reason is simple: beer is a high calorie beverage, filled with empty calories which our body can do very little with besides turn into ugly fat. A glass of beer can contain 146 calories, which is a lot. Since many people consume more than 1 glass each drinking night, the calories can add up.
Other negative things about beer which may cause it is that beer makes us hungry and usually makes us eat a lot of snacks like pretzels or nuts. This increases further our calorie consumption and the accumulation of abdominal fat.

Beer also makes out blood sugar levels to drop, causing us to feel lethargic. This leads to general inactivity which means that we burn less calories than we should. The less we burn, the more prone we are to having a beer belly. The best way to get rid of it is to first realize what it is in your lifestyle which may be causing your beer belly and to put an end to those things. If it's beer drinking, switch to light beers and cut down on the amount. If it's something else, make the necessary adjustments.

How Can I Lose Weight - Sensibly, Safely And Permanently?

Everyone wants everything now...not tomorrow, not next week, but now. That includes weight loss. Nothing worthwhile comes easily.

To lose weight meaningfully and permanently you need to work at it and give it time. Your body uses calories as a car uses gas. It uses calories at the rate of 3500cal/lb of fat. To lose this weight you need to take in less calories and allow the body to use the calories it already has stored.

Is it easy? No. Can you do it? Yes. And you can lose weight insensibly and safely. You can lose it permanently. In almost every case of someone being overweight a new mindset toward food and learning a new way to move that body is required to effectively lose weight.

Mind over matter?

That is not an easy thing to master but you can do it. After all food is just that, food... a source of energy for your body

Losing weight requires two things - sensible eating and sensible exercising.

Exercise can be in any stage whether it be walking once a day or three times a day or going through a mild workout daily or weekly. Watever you decide. The body needs to move to lose the energy it has already stored in it.

There are many diets out there to follow and after a while they all become boring and old and dull. It is much easier to use common sense when eating and calling on will power. Don't store those high calorie foods in the food pantry. Leave them on the store shelves.

Quick weight loss is not a healthy goal. Usually losing weight fast means losing muscle and water. You need muscle to keep your metabolism elevated. The more muscle tissue you lose the less calories you can take in daily without gaining more weight. It is much healthier to lose 1-2 pounds a week than 6 or 7. Remember, one pound requires using 3500 calories. If you take in 250 calories less each day and burn off 250 a day with exercise you will lose one pound a week.
Mind over matter is not as easy task but definitely possible and definitely self-satisfying once mastered.

There are also many exercise machines on the market. which all promise to work wonders for your body. They too become boring and dull after using a while and soon sit in the corner idle. How much better to get out of bed in the morning and do twenty "pushups" from the edge of your dresser. That will give you the start you need. Soon you will be doing thirty, then fifty.

Soon you will be trying the real thing -pushups on the floor.

Exercise energizes your body. Try it. The blood flows faster. The mind is clearer and you feel good.

It can even be addicting and that is not a bad thing.

Most importantly, have patience with yourself. If you really want to lose weight and keep it off it will take that new mindset, one that says "I am tired of being overweight. It is silly to be overweight and that's all there is to it." Once that thought becomes real within you you will lose weight. But give it time.

You can lose weight. Make that effort and do it, sensibly, safely and permanently.
