You can't eat in most restaurants without receiving portions large enough to feed 2 people or more. Cooking at home is not always helpful if you lack restraint on your servings.

Tip #1: When dining out, immediately cut your portions in half when you receive your meal. Decide right away that you will only eat half and box up the rest to take home. If you have options on the menu for full or half servings, always choose half.

Tip #2: Use smaller plates when dining at home. Placing your meals on smaller plates will help to create the illusion of larger portions. You will be eating the correct portions and fooling your brain into thinking that you are eating more.

Tip #3: Add more vegetables to your main meals and swap out desserts with fruit. When you eat your meals, double up on the vegetables and cut back on bread, rice, and other carbs. Desserts can be swapped out for fruit based desserts like yogurt and mixed fruit.
