Weight loss with fruit can be a healthy option in a fight to lose those extra pounds, but is it as healthy as it seems? Let's take a look at how eating fruit can help you lose weight.

Eating fruit as a way of shedding extra pounds may sound like a great idea, but it is important to do this the correct way. Just eating a diet of oranges, bananas and apples may sound ideal, but it is also important to add other essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients to your diet.

The first basic rule when changing any diet is to take it easy. Do not make a sudden change to your eating habits, a slow steady change is important. Your body will take on a dietary change very slowly, so don't expect any overnight miracles.

Here is a few simple facts on weight loss with fruit.

Did you know that eating too much fruit can actually make you put on weight. Fruit is high in natural sugars, with grapes being one the worst culprits for sugar content. As a rule, eat around 2 cups (half a pound) of fruit per day. This is based on a dietary intake of 2000 calories.

Do not just eat fruit. Eating a balanced diet is very important, with vegetables also being a leading factor in a balanced diet. You should eat around 2 and a half cups of vegetables everyday, this being less than the RDA for a 2000 calorie diet. This diet is only based on eating 2 cups of fruit in your meal plan everyday.

Consuming a large amount of fruit in a short time when you haven't done so before, can actually make you sick, making your body detoxify. Consume fruit slowly, making the change to your diet gradual.
