The Battle of the Belly Bulge

By Cynthia O Goranson and Cynthia L Goranson

Unfortunately for us, in the Battle of the Belly Bulge, we have all of the disadvantages. Our bodies naturally want to store fat for excess energy supplies, protection and even warmth. It especially wants to store fat in and around your stomachs and midsections. This means that our enemy - the unsightly belly bulge - has everything working in its favor. But if you arm yourself with the best weapons and use the following tips, you'll be able to finally defeat your nemesis and emerge victorious in the Battle of the Belly Bulge.

One of the most important things you have to do to get rid of that belly fat is to change your approach to eating. Many people think about their meal plans and nutritional programs in entirely the wrong ways. To begin with, stop calling it a diet. Really, you are working on a change in lifestyle, one that will produce healthy effects for an unending amount of time.

When you change your approach to eating you have to do several things. First of all, start your eating early and end it earlier as well. This means that you should always fill up with a satisfying breakfast when you are starting your day off. This will supply you with energy all day long and will give you a chance to start your metabolism and get to work on burning calories.

After starting with a good breakfast everyday, you then have to break up the rest of your meals into smaller meals and snacks. This is to keep your metabolism moving at a quick pace and to keep yourself feeling fresh and energetic while never getting so hungry that you feel starved and end up scarfing down something unhealthy.

Now you have to close out your eating before the end of the night. Eating too close to bedtime can not only affect the quality of your sleep, but it can also negatively impact your weight. When you eat right before bed your body never has a chance to properly digest, metabolize and burn off those calories, so they immediately get stored as excess fat. If you give yourself a few hours of not eating before bed, you'll ensure that your body had enough time to work off as much of that food as possible.

Finally, in addition to all of these nutritional approaches, don't forget that you'll need to exercise to maximize your results. You should be participating in both cardio exercise to help burn off calories and also strength training exercise which will help burn calories while also adding lean muscle to your frame, and burning more calories everyday from that point forward.

Start your day off the right way with a good, large breakfast. Eat consistently throughout the day so you never get too hungry and your metabolism stays firing away. Cut off your eating a few hours before bedtime and always include some cardio and strength training into your lifestyle as well. If you follow these tips, arming yourself with the best possible weapons of knowledge and strategy, you too can be victorious in the Battle of the Belly Bulge.
