Moreover, most crash diet programs require starving yourself or just eating certain members of particular food groups; which makes them really hard to follow and keep.
Eat Judiciously
If you want to keep the fat off permanently, you need to start teaching yourself how to eat sensibly. Most Americans do not really mind what they put inside their mouths. Thus, it is not surprising that obesity is starting to be an epidemic in this country.
Stay away from fatty and fried foods, sugar-rich desserts, and processed foods. If possible, veer away from fast foods. You don't have to starve yourself to be thin; you just have to choose the right types of food.
Make sure that you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Eat fatty fish, such as salmon, tuna and cod at least three times a week. Choose the lean parts in meat. And try to order only a smaller portion of what you usually eat in a restaurant.
Be Mindful Of What You Drink
No matter how cautious you are in choosing your foods, if you don't mind what you drink your weight loss initiatives might not succeed. Sodas, sweetened fruit juices and other flavored drinks usually have very high sugar content. So even if you eat only one piece of bread for the day but drink 10 glasses of soda or sweetened fruit juice, you will still find it difficult to lose that weight.
The best drink you can give your body is water. Make sure that you consume more than eight glasses a day. However, if you really have to drink something with flavor, choose freshly squeezed juice instead of soda or juice concentrates.
Go Ahead And Fidget All You Want
Not everybody has the time and money to go to the gym everyday. If you are one of those people who either do not have the resources or simply do not want to share equipment in the gym, you can always exercise in the comfort of your own home. Aside from the daily workouts, which are important to keep your heart and body strong, you should also move around and fidget when you can. Even the smallest movement and action can use up calories; so do not underestimate the power of fidgeting.
When you are watching the television or sitting on your desk, you can move your feet or shake your ankles. During your break, you can also do some stretching inside the comfort room or simply wave your hands up in the air. While you are waiting in line, you can try marching in place.
