In short, green tea's weight loss benefits are a result of several mechanisms. As discussed, these include an increased metabolism, a positive effect on blood sugar and insulin regulation, and possibly the inhibiting of the enzyme amylase, which is required for the processing of carbohydrates. Water - The Secret to Fat Loss?

Leigh PeeleWater is one of the most important elements in fat loss. If you are not getting a proper balance of water, then you can not possibly get the best fat loss results. If you are 40 lbs overweight and do not workout really, and your diet is sketchy, are you going to notice a huge physical appearance difference...no probably not. However, it will provide you with the building blocks you need to start turning your body into a more efficient fat burning machine. Now, if you are slightly over your desired body fat and you have been skimping on the water, lifting weights, doing cardio, and eating pretty clean, are you going to see and feel a difference? YES a Big Difference.
The liver is our fat traffic cross guard, if you will. It helps break down the fat and sort where the body needs it for energy. So what happens if there is a traffic jam? The cross guard gets flustered, and tells people to park on the side until he get things sorted out and moving again.
Those parked cars in this (again I know weird analogy) is our fat.
Why did the traffic jam occur? Because the traffic lights down the street, the kidney, went haywire and stop functioning right. Water is the magic that gets the kidney happy and pumping.
If it's not happy or is overworked, it sends its entire extra load to the liver, when this happens the liver gets overloaded and starts to store that fat because it just does not have the room or time to sort out everything properly. So simply plan to drink enough water. Then the kidney is working normal and happy, the liver sorts all your fat, and toxins get released. Now you have a well oiled fat burning machine. Now why if this is so simple, is it so neglected?
Well a lot of people do not like to drink water, forget to drink water, or do not understand its importance. Now that you understand its importance, let's look at what happens when you start drinking it so you know when you are getting enough. First off, a lot of people start drinking more water and their number one complaint is "I go to the bathroom all the time, I just can not pee that much". Well this is going to happen. Your body is regulating, it's going to take a little while (usually a few weeks) to flush out the toxins and get rid of the water storage. 8/10 people are partially dehydrated at all times. When you are dehydrated you store water, just as you do in starvation mode with fat. It takes a little while for your body to believe that it's going to continue getting that water. so for a little while it's going to be in an "in and out" system. However it will adjust, and once it does the bathroom runs will be less and less.
There is a reason why everyone automatically thinks pee should be bright yellow, because most of the population is partially dehydrated. When you first start out drinking a lot of water your urine color will be mostly clear. Remember that your body is adjusting and flushing out toxins.
However the goal is to have very light off yellow, almost clear, urine. This is a sign of good hydration. The more yellow, the more dehydrated.
How much water is enough? Keep it simple. For a woman who exercises, a gallon a day. For a man who exercises, 1.5 to 2 gallons a day. If you find after a few weeks you are still very clear and using the bathroom a lot, lower you intake some. If it's still really yellow increase your intake some. For marathon runners and trainers make sure, if you are taking in more than 3 gallons of water a day, to really add sodium to your intake to regulate your body. This is so you do not put your body in a Hyperdemia state.
Tips:
• Do not drink a little water and then a huge amount at one time to make up for your daily needs. It's just like eating 5-6 meals a day. Get your water broken up through out the day.
• If you have been dehydrated, expect some bloating and water weight to occur the first week or so. It's just the same as if you stopped eating food after being in starvation mode; your body is going to hold on to it. So if bloating occurs, it's natural and will pass in a short time.
• Cold/warm which one? Some say cooler water is absorbed quicker and helps burn fat faster. Some say warm is easier to drink and delays cramping. Overall it does not really matter too much. Just find a way to get it down.

Diets that work cannot be hard to follow; or they won't work.
All too often; on low calorie diets; we don't have enough dining options; especially at fast food retaurants; to choose a meal that will leave us satisfied without "blowing" the diet.
I don't feel that no-carb diets are really very healthy because they encourage us to eliminate most of an important food group. Diets that work must be balanced in order to provide safe, effective weight loss.
When we reduce the amount of food and calories that we consume; our bodies recognize this fact and the result is a reduced metabolism. Consequently; diets that work must keep the metabolism in high gear in order to allow weight loss.
The body can tell; completely apart from the brain when it is hungry. If you're outside on a cold day; your body will start shivering in order to protect itself from the cold. If you cut back on calories; your body will protect itself from starvation by slowing the metabolism in order to conserve calories (energy).
Some diet programs refer to this principal as calorie shifting. The intent is to switch around the type of foods and calories that we eat at different times of the day so that the body never adjusts itself to a slower metabolism. It also requires eating at least four times daily for the same reason.
This means that diets that work must allow us to eat often. But how can you lose weight while eating often?
Simply put; you have to eat the right foods at the right times; in order to keep the metabolism at peak levels; burning calories and burning fat.
There are some diets that work on that principal; and by their nature they are really easy to stick with.

Losing Weight - The Best Time of the Year?

Bill W.When is the best time of the year to lose weight? Anytime that you need to is the answer. There is little doubt that starting a weight loss regime in the dark days of winter is not the best time as many of us suffer a low period during this time and we may not be able to cope as well mentally as we would in the brighter days of spring and summer.
Imagine the scene, late December, office parties or out with friends, Christmas holiday and New Year parties. We overindulge and the beginning of January we realise that we really do need to get our bodies back into some shape. Other things take over and before we know it the first signs of spring are in the air. Suddenly that fine figure in the mirror does not really look that good especially when pictured in the summer on the beach. Panic!
Weight loss is a big issue these days and it is not difficult to find books, fitness DVDs and videos, not to mention the deluge of magazine articles that both sexes are bombarded with. How often in early spring do you see plastered across the front of a magazine or taking up several internal pages promises of a quick weight loss fix. Then there are the celebrity following journals that always seem to be documenting the latest and crazy faddy diet being followed by your favourite celeb. Total information overload. It is no wonder most of us become confused and disillusioned when we find we cannot achieve the promised weight loss let alone in the timescale suggested.
Your weight loss program does not have to be rocket science combined with a draconian exercise regime. Eat healthy food in moderate amounts, combine it with gentle exercise and you will feel better mentally and physically. Look for a weight loss program that helps you to control your intake of good food and not some expensive and fancy concoction and definitely does not include some magic pill or potion.
What about shedding those unwanted pounds ready for the beach? Don't set the bar too high this year, accept that there will be the odd bit around the middle that you would prefer not to show but instead make a conscious effort to make a lifestyle change. Then next year you can make a great impression as you stroll onto the beach and still look and feel healthy.

Of course the above tips to lose abdominal fat are extreme and beyond the mental toughness of most North Americans. Be realistic. You're not going to go from eating an apple turnover at breakfast, a a hamburger at noon and pizza for supper to joyously cramming uncooked broccoli into your mouth.
The most important thing you can do to lose abdominal fat is to find the right program. Be sure that you have ongoing support within the program when inevitably your weakness will get the better of you in your attempt to reduce abdominal fat.

Through regular exercise you increase and improve you body's use of oxygen thus increasing your metabolism. In fact studies have shown that even 15 hours after strenuous exercise (above 70% of Maximum Heart Rate) the metabolic rate in some individuals increased as much as 25%.
2.Water IntakeKeeping in a fully hydrated state is extremely important for our health. It is also very important if our goal is fat loss. Even a mild dehydration can slow down the metabolism by 3% now that may not seem much but for a 2000 Kcal dieter that could mean a 60 Kcal difference. Yet rather than drink the free stuff if we're feeling hungry, we'll still opt for the latest cardboard tasting bar because its 50 calories lower than your previous woodchip tasting bar if we just drank more water we wouldn't have to opt for these foul tasting products to keep check on our calorie intake.
If your body is in a dehydrated state then your kidneys will not be able to function properly, and will not assist the liver in converting stored fats into energy and therefore slowing down the fat burning process. Setting you up for even more fat storage...
Let's not forget that the body is made up of over 70% water with the spine itself or to be more precise, the disc cores of the vertebrae bodies of the spine take as much as 70% of the weight for the head and upper body.
Now if we take into account that the spine discs actually contain water, something that most of us don't drink enough of. These discs will begin to decrease in size causing ligaments to be slackened leaving the spine less stable which could increase the risk of injuries. If were injured, we can't exercise.
3.EAT MORE FAT!We have become a fat less nation yet the nation is actually getting fatter. I'm going to give you 2 fats that you must include in your diet if you really want to loose bodyfat!
4.Coconut OilThis is the most saturated fat of them all so why would I possibly tell you that Coconut oil is essential to optimum health and weight loss? Well, coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid, meaning the coconut oil is used very much like carbohydrates for energy without stimulating insulin levels.
This is because it bypasses the pancreas (organ responsible for insulin secretion) and the liver (responsible for converting carbohydrates, and fats into energy). Prepare Your Body for Weight Loss

Death begins in the Colon
Many researchers agree that ‘health begins in the colon’. Or some say, ‘death begins in the colon.’ In fact, both of these are true statements, depending on which way you are going!
Certain herbs, properly ingested, are able to help break loose much of the accumulated toxins which most Americans are carrying around in their digestive system. Then search for a weight loss plan that provides nutrients that the body can use to improve your health as well as allow you to lose weight.

Healthy Eating When You Dine Out

Mike DevoranYou might think that it's not possible to maintain a healthy diet when you eat out at restaurants.
In many cases, you would be correct. It is, however, quite possible to stick to a healthy diet while occasionally enjoying a restaurant meal. You simply need to learn a little bit about nutrition, which will allow you to make the correct food choices to stay healthy, active, mentally stable and happy.
When you pick up the menu, start by skipping over the drinks section. Although you may be tempted to enjoy a beer or mixed beverage with your dinner, these usually have many empty calories, which is not good for your body. Red wine is an exception to this rule, and may actually help prevent heart disease. Try to have only a single glass.
Also skip over the appetizer menu, unless it's a side salad. The appetizers at restaurants are usually high-fat foods that are not meant to fill you up and can in fact make you crave even more high fat foods. Examples of these are mozzarella sticks, potato skins, and wings. Rather just have a main course, or share a single serving with a couple of other people.
You should carefully check the ingredients in the main dish you select Anything with cream sauces or high-fat meats should be avoided, and pass up the potatoes or onion rings. Instead order side dishes like vegetables or ask for just the main course when possible.
Portion size is also important. Order off the lunch menu whenever you can, and ask for a doggie bag right away. Split your meal in half from the start so that you are not tempted to eat the entire thing, which is usually enough for two or three portions.
After the meal, skip dessert. Again, you can share a single desert with the entire table if you feel compelled to order something, or split your portion in half. Bear in mind that the desserts served in restaurants may have more calories than the rest of the meal.

Buried deep inside you there is a second layer of fat called visceral fat that surrounds your organs and is hidden away where you can't see or touch it. Visceral fat is the type of fat that has been linked to increased risk of heart disease, diabetes and other health problems. It is easy to not notice visceral fat because you don't have to look at it everyday, but it is very important to your health to lose it.
The good news is that you can lose both subcutaneous and visceral fat and reduce your health risk significantly simple by losing weight.
Although you may be interested in only losing stomach fat, as I mentioned before there is really no way to just specifically target your stomach. However, if you carry most of your fat in your stomach area, as soon as you start losing weight your body should naturally start to draw energy from those fat reserves and your stomach will begin to get smaller.
There are many incorrect ways to lose weight that can actually do more harm to your body than good. When losing weight you need a program or diet that allows you to lose fat without losing your muscle tone as well - this is especially important in the stomach area since your stomach muscles work hard to help you through the day.

Research found that the daily consumption of almonds not only helped individuals feel full, but they also caused a decrease in carbohydrates consumed.
I know that we have heard that nuts are very high in fat. This is true mainly for peanuts, but the benefits of eating nuts especially almonds outweigh the fear of consuming to much fat.
Almonds are also high in fiber and research shows that because of this, fats aren’t as readily absorbed.
According to the study, eating one to three ounces of almonds daily helps lower LDL cholesterol levels and doesn’t contribute to weight gain.
Most Americans don’t get enough magnesium and vitamin E in their diet. Eating almonds daily helps to correct this deficiency. They are also a great source of protein.
You can eat nuts by the handful or they can also be added to salads, cottage cheese, cereal, and eaten with a serving of fruit or vegetables.
A lot of nutritionists don’t like to suggest eating nuts for snacks because of their fat content, but as long as one doesn’t eat a lot (not more than a small handful daily) it is very beneficial and out weighs the fear of consuming too much fat. There are many weight loss methods and programs that exist out there today that can be harmful to your health if you are not careful. For this reason, it is very important to speak to a health care provider before you take anything or do anything, just to be on the safe side.
2. Keep a diary.It has been proven by nutritionists and health care providers alike that weight loss success rates are much higher when the person has a record of what they are consuming.
Jotting down what you eat when you eat it and writing your feelings about it and the situation can help you look back and find patterns, good and bad habits, etc. and will help you be a huge help to yourself, almost like an outsider looking in. 3. Know your health risk factor.It is very important to know where you lie as far as your health is concerned. If you are person just looking to shed off a few extra pounds you don't have to worry as much as someone who needs to drop the weight based on a health risk (usually a BMI of over 30 is something to be concerned about).

How Can I Raise My Metabolism

This is not completely true but it will help, provided other conditions are right. This article will discuss how you might raise the metabolism and what this means in terms of weight loss.
Metabolism has many definitions but it is basically the processing of food by the body. When people mention raising the metabolism or making it faster they mean the speed at which it uses the calories that it takes from the food. Calories give us the energy that we need to live everyday. In terms of metabolism, the calories are used in maintaining all the functions and processes that go on inside the body to keep it functioning. This is known as the basal metabolic rate and can account for 70% of the body's total energy needs. The rest of the calories are used for activities like working or doing exercise.
It is very hard to increase the basal rate but by increasing the percentage of muscle in the body, you will increase the basal metabolic rate or the metabolism as a whole. Muscle needs energy to be maintained and this means the body has to work harder. This means that you have to add more muscle to the body to raise your metabolism. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have to push weights at a gym but do exercise that will strengthen the body as a whole.
Aerobic exercise will raise the metabolic rate during the exercise period and shortly there after but it will not have any long term affect. It will increase the heart rate and muscles that are used will burn calories during the exercise and after to recover.
It is thought that the metabolism has to work harder (burn more calories) to process protein rather than carbohydrates for example. This may be true because the structure of protein is more complex but it has to be eaten in the context of a balanced diet. The body needs a balance of carbohydrates, proteins and some fats to stay healthy. Eating on a regular basis, as in regular snacks and light main meals, increases the metabolism because it has to process the food. Again this has to be seen in the context that eating too many calories than your body needs will only make you gain weight.
